As a tour guide for the Centre, I really appreciated reading this interview, and Mr. Freschi's comments about the design elements, challenges, and symbolism of the Centre.

Thank you very much for assembling this piece - it will no doubt be very valuable reference point for all tour guides.

Best wishes to you.

“With my deep and sincere gratitude for conceiving, designing and buiding a Jamatkhana and Centre which represent our respect for our past, our belief of today, and our hope for the future. The Ismaili Jamath worldwide, and I, are proud of your remarkable achievement.”

With regard to this message of Mawlana Hazar Imam to Mr. Bruno Freschi, published in the interview, you have to think that our Imam is always very gracious and magnanimous. Of course this is his jamatkhana and his concept of what it should be. That in no way detracts from Mr Freschi's achievement in translating Mawlan Hazar Imam's vision in 3D. Mr. Freschi's explanations of the design concepts he incorporated in the building enhance our appreciation of it. Of course beyond that, the benefits we derive from the Jamatkhana come from praying in a place where so many have prayed over so many decades. You can feel the aura.

I trust somewhere down the line there will be a record of the trail-blazing Presidents who worked so hard to materialize our first high profile Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre in North America - namely the late Zeenatali Virani, late Zulfikar Jafferali Lalji Mangalji, and Farouk BKS Verjee. I am writing a book about those times based on the expulsion of Asians from Uganda and their names figure in my book.

A very well executed and written interview. I also liked the precursor article from the restaurant. Wonderful. Thank you for your time and special thank you to Bruno Freschi for sharing details and photographs. Each of our Jamat khanas have stories of significance to tell, but the high profile ones in the Western environment would have a lot to say to the future generation of Ismaili Muslims to come.

Mubaraki also for being featured in Ottawa Citizen. The number of Ismaili bloggers are growing day by day, with your quality initiative, I hope others are on the right footsteps.
