Collections

Extraordinary Books, Extraordinary Objects

About two years ago Simerg began offering its viewers a magnificent book of photographs by Prince Hussain Aga Khan called Animal Voyage. This unique book became part of this website’s new category called Collections. We received one hundred signed copies of the book as well as an equal number of unsigned copies. These are now sold out.

As the name suggests, the goal of Collections is to offer rare, antiquarian and out of print texts pertaining to the Muslim world, as well some unique selections of more recent works by Muslims. The latter would include books like Animal Voyage, and the much sought 1st editions of Memoirs of Aga Khan – World Enough and Time and India in Transition, both by the late 48th Imam of the Ismailis, Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah, Aga Khan III. To complement books or sets of books, Collections will also offer outstanding memorabilia, collectible items, antiques and objects of art from 1400 years of Muslim history, including the Fatimid Period.

By introducing Collections, we emphasize to our readers worldwide our commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards for all the other sections of this website. Our goal will always be to offer the very best in content excellence through Voices, Literary Readings, Modern Artistic Expressions, Parables and Sidelines.

Welcome to Collections.

The Inspiration:

The basis and inspiration for Simerg to venture into Collections came about when Prince Hussain Aga Khan’s Animal Voyage came to our attention. Well, nothing could be more gratifying than offering, to our readers, this magnificent photographic book by a Muslim who is both directly descended from the Prophet Muhammad and is also son of His Highness the Aga Khan, the 49th Imam of Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. We thank Editions d L’Oeil for giving us this opportunity to sell this marvellous book in North America. We also thank Editions for allowing us to publish a series of photos from the book in our feature article (see link below). Many knew about Prince Hussain Aga Khan’s photography hobby but thousands more learnt about his passion and concern about animals when they read the article.

Since the book is now sold out, those who purchased it would be proud to have a Collectible item. Hopefully, a newer edition of the book will be released in the not too distant future.  We invite you to read more about this initial Collections offering at the following pages in this website:

  1. Very interesting. How about Pir Pandiyat-i Jawanmardi’? This was a compilation of the guidance of Imam Mustansir bi’llah to the Jamat.
