Born of the light
My guiding beacon
A light seen unseen
In shadows fading clean

Born of the ocean
My river of truth
Flowing ebbing
A source unseen

Like the sun and the dew
We have our pact
My destiny surrendered
To the warmth of your noor

Like the drop and the ocean
We have our rendezvous
But how I need my river
To carry me through

Born of the light
The rope unfolds
And fifty years on
My beacon shines on

(Rai) Amin Mawji is a Partner at Ernst & Young LLP. Before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he graduated from The London School of Economics where he met his wife Gulnar. Both Amin and Gulnar were born in Kenya. They have two children, Sophia and Sameer. Born of the Light was inspired by and written during the Golden Jubilee year, when Amin was serving as the Mukhi of Putney Jamatkhana. Amin currently serves as the President of  His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom.
