Tweet Hanna Ali

Ali’s daughter, Hana, wrote in a tweet that Ali was surrounded by his children in his final moments. They held his once powerful hands. They hugged and kissed their 74-year-old father. They chanted Islamic prayer. Hanna Ali wrote that the children tried to stay strong. Some whispered in his ear.

“You can go now. We will be okay. We love you. Thank you. You can go back to God now.”

After Ali’s organs failed, his daughter wrote in the tweet, his heart continued to beat for another 30 minutes: “A true testament to the strength of his Spirit and Will!”

Muhammad Ali, the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time and one of the best known figures of the 20th century, has passed away at the age of 74, after being admitted to a  Phoenix area  hospital for a respiratory ailment. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984, four years after his retirement, but he went on to lift the Olympic Flame in 1996.

Ali was responsible for some of the most legendary moments in the ring. His incomparable work ethic, his  revolutionary techniques, and fearlessness towards standing up for his beliefs, all contributed to the legend that was Muhammad Ali.

As we mourn his death, we publish some of the lessons that Hanna Ali, one of his seven daughters, shared in her book “More Than A Hero” published in 2000, in which she offered an intensely personal look at one of the most revered men on the face of the earth. 1. Muhammad Ali was a true celebrated legendary boxer and icon who revolutionized boxing and took it to a greater level. In spite of being in ailing health and retired from boxing for a while, he was greatly loved and respected by all over the universe as the acclaimed legendary master in boxing. Even his detractors, if any, would say that he was a legendary father in boxing, He was a true icon and celebrated sportsman loved by all. May his name be written in gold in the HALLOWED HALLS OF FAME IN BOXING. He was an INSPIRATION AND ROLE MODEL to the future generation of the boxing fraternity. He was awarded the 1996 Gold Medal in Atlanta at the Olympics for his enormous contribution not only to boxing but also as a Legendary Sportsman. May his Soul rest in eternal peace and he attain JANNATHUL FIRDHOUSE. Warm Regards and Jazak Allah Kahir.

  2. Muhammad Ali’s words, deeds and action made him a true legend. He will be remembered as the greatest for many centuries.

  3. Far more than a “boxer”, Muhammad Ali was a black man larger than life for so many young men and women throughout his career. Ali’s opposition to the Vietnam War and his subsequent Supreme Court win spoke volumes to the masses of people of color in the US and worldwide. May his memory continue to inspire current and future generations that they can be “the greatest” too. Inna lillahay wa inna ilayhi raaji’un.

  4. The fact that his daughter has written about him and his memorable moments proves the his true achievement IN and OUT of the ring and validates his choice, ISLAM, as it echoes the holy Prophet Muhammad’s words where the HE says that a man leaves only two things behind. His amal and his good children who pray for him. I believe, Mr Muhammad Ali has done both:), SUBHAN ALLAH:))!!
