  1. I just came upon the post on Zawahir’s passing on LinkedIn and am very saddened to learn that she’s no longer with us. I knew her when I was a University student in Karachi in the late sixties. What an amazing and compassionate lady she was. Unfortunately I never saw her or knew where she was after I left Pakistan in the early seventies, but I am so happy to learn from here about her great accomplishments. May she rest in eternal peace.
    Ameen

  2. Although I never was in touch with her at the IIS but it is obvious that she had a very accomplishing life. Our family sincerely pray that may her soul rest in eternal peace. Ameen. Thanks also to simerg.com to cover information about her life and achievements.

  3. Many dua and prayers and subur to all who knew Zawahir. She was an incredibly generous, knowledgeable and erudite mentor for my study of the ginan tradition. I knew her since 2004. She was invariably warm and welcoming, always feeding me as a young student then. Sharing her deep insights into the ginanic canon as well as her personal devotional connection with it. She has been a blessing to this world, may she rest in peace and power.

  4. At a time when the study of Satpanth and Ginans was not fashionable, Zawahir Moir kept the flame of this important branch of Ismaili Studies burning brightly. She was kind, humble and intelligent. If we are now seeing a resurgence of Ginan Studies, it is in no little part due to the dedication and passionate endeavours of Zawahir. May Mawla bless her lovely soul.

  5. May Mawla grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

I remember when I (with my wife Zarina) joined a Waizeen Training Program in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1965, (almost six decades now), she was our history teacher. Since then we have been learning from her. She was a very generous in sharing her knowledge. During our assignment at the IIS from 1981 to 1985 we worked very closely with her. We had a common interest in the South Asian Tradition. She will be fondly remembered for her great contributions towards the understanding of our South Asian traditions.

Rest in peace Zawahir Bai. You will be greatly missed.

    Zarina and Kamaluddin

  6. We will surely miss Zawahir Noorali as I had known her in Karachi, as she was a gem (as her name suggests) for her scholarly contributions in khojki and Ginans. May her soul rest with the blessed ones.

  7. So sorry to hear about the demise of a distinguished scholar, outstanding researcher and wonderful friend Zawahir Moir. May her soul rest in eternal peace, Aameen.

  8. Every once in a decade, miners may find a priceless gem.
Our Tarika has just lost one such gem, named, Zawahir
I cannot find any words to convey this loss to you.
    God speed. Ameen.

  9. May her soul rest in peace. I spoke to Zawahir aunty last in 2020 via email and she was kind enough to refer me to some of the sources and encouraged me to work hard for my PhD. Her name will always be remembered for her contributions to the field of ginanic studies.

  10. So sorry to hear the sad news. Her contribution specially for ginanic literature is amazing. May her soul rest in eternal peace
