  1. This article provided a fascinating description of the efforts made by communities relatively small in numbers but with inspired vision. A lot is owed to the pioneers who sacrificed their sweat equity to brighten the future of their descendants.

  2. Thank-you for this wonderful article, Mohammed. My father is profiled in this story and great to learn about his early days in Mbeya as I was only 5 when he passed. It is also wonderful to see your collection of pictures and your story of how these individuals helped to influence people’s lives in this small town and the impact they have had! After nearly 47 years, people still talk about his waez, ginans and influence that he had on them. This article helps to give me a glimpse into his early years and an opportunity for us to connect (new found cousin) and to learn more!

    With immense gratitude,

    Rahim W

  3. Our congratulations are definitely due to Dr. Manji for his excellent work. We Mbeyans are totally appreciative of his contribution and research into the subjects which we did not acknowledge as important in our life. Our sincere thanks, appreciation and for being a great asset of our town Mbeya. Congratulations Mohammed.

  4. Thank you for this article. It shows how a small visionary community and dedicated teachers can produce professional who have gone on to make a remarkable impact in our world’s progress.

  5. Thank you for the time and effort you have taken to collect information, do research and write this beautiful tribute to your teachers. Thank you for sharing your experiences of my parents as educators, especially what you have said about my dad…..a true visionary who played an important role in the character formation of so many students in Mbeya and in Bangalore.

  6. Doctor, this has to be the best tribute ever to all teachers including my dad and grandad. It refreshed a lot of memories of 50s and 60s. Thank you.
